Though the Hutts are among the most famous criminals in the galaxy and the Black Sun criminal syndicate is the single most widespread underworld group, there is still space in between the cracks where other groups of dishonest intent may still spring up. The Coil is such a group. Shrouded in darkness, it looks to profit from the weak and dependent by creating its own niche in the spice trade. Comprised mostly of dealers, prostitutes and thieves, The Coil is a tight-knit group of operatives set to make their mark on the galaxy. The Coil, whose center of operations is on the planet of Susefvi, operates in partial secrecy. To outsiders, The Coil appears to deal in sorcery, ritual and the macabre, adding a sense of mysticism to their operations; a fact that operatives are all too happy to play up on.
The chief enemy of The Coil is the law. Any law enforcement agency would be thrilled to bring down The Coil. Additionally, any criminal organization that is not a part of The Coil, Black Sun chief among them, would be seen as a rival, if not an outright enemy.
In order to become a member of The Coil, typically one must rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld and attract the attention of an existing Coil agent and then successfully undergo the initiation ritual into the syndicate, which usually involves performing a dangerous test of loyalty and a blood oath.
Due to the façade of ritual and dark arts, The Coil holds specific titles in high regard. Most new initiates never advance beyond the rank of Ouroboros, simply because competition is so fierce that anyone who tires to ascend through the syndicate’s hierarchy has to eliminate those above him first. Much like the Sith and Black Sun, The Coil teaches its members how to take advantage of the weak, the innocent, and the corrupt for their own benefit. The Coil demands that its agents be stronger, faster, smarter, and more perceptive than the agents of other criminal organizations, and failure usually results in severe punishment.
Ouroboros: Ouroboros are the lowest-ranking members of The Coil crime
syndicate and represent the majority of its members. Ouroboros can be anything from spies, dealers, prostitutes or thugs, though no Ouroboros has much clout within the syndicate. Ouroboros get access to a safe house or unfurnished apartment within the organization’s scale’ as snakes tend to go to ground.
Chthons: Chthons are dangerous and ambitious members of The Coil who are responsible for making sure the daily activities of the crime syndicate go smoothly. Chthons can be everything from pimps to den lords to cleaners who ensure that the syndicate’s activities do not draw attention from the authorities. Chthons are responsible for recruiting new members to The Coil.
Nehushtan: Crime lords in their won right, the Nehushtan are the most feared agents in the syndicate. Each Nehushtan usually controls Coil acivites throughout an entire sector. Their focus is on obtaining new supplies and taking over enemy territories.
Naga: The Naga is the supreme ruler of the entire organization. There can be only one Naga at any given time, and a rising agent of The Coil who wants to seize the title of Naga must kill the current Naga to take his/her place. The current Naga of the Coil is Tellian Frosa.
